Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Finance, perform the following duties:
Duties
• Assist in the analysis and reports necessary for various subsidy submissions and claims.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets for Ministry annual funding programs.
• Assist in the budget submission from all City departments during the budget process.
• Investigate costing irregularities with correction by journal entry.
• Prepare analysis and working papers for various schedules, reports, etc.
• Assist management in the analysis and working papers for year end and FIR.
• Reconcile and journalize the quarterly computer leases.
• Record monthly revenue from various sources.
• Participate in and support the City’s Continuous Improvement Program (CIP), by identifying opportunities for improvements in City processes with the aim of making processes as efficient as possible
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• College graduate with a diploma or certificate in Business Administration/Accounting with a minimum of two years financial experience in a municipal environment.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting fundamentals such as debits and credits is essential.
• Completion or enrollment in a Professional Accounting Program an asset.
• Time management skills required to meet all Ministry deadlines.
• Accuracy and attention to detail is a necessity.
• Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Vadim and other applicable applications.
• Proven ability to work well with others and independently.
• Strong aptitude for financial reconciliations.
