NURSE PRACTITIONER
Full-Time / Contracted Service
Position Overview:
• Under the direction of the Director of Care & Long-Term Services and the Director of Care, the Nurse Practitioner functions as a member of the multidisciplinary care team in the provision of primary health care services to residents, in a culturally sensitive manner. The Nurse Practitioner will provide or facilitate preventative, health promoting, curative, rehabilitative and supportive care that maximizes the individual’s strengths, potentials and health status. She/he will work to her/his full scope of practice while participating within a multidisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of the resident’s plan of care, working in collaboration with physicians.
• Hours of work: Varies, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and nights.
• Compensation: To be negotiated.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Current registration with the College of Nurses as Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (RNEC) mandatory:
• Post RN education in Gerontology, Certification from the Canadian Nurses Association preferred or 3 years relevant experience in LTC;
• Proven leadership abilities combined with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
• Demonstrated knowledge about primary health care issues in LTC Homes;
• High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts;
• Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff privacy;
• Computer literacy is required.
• Provide clear criminal record check.
