Position Overview:
• Under supervision of the Lead Mechanic, the Mechanic inspects, overhauls, repairs, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment and fleet as directed. The Mechanic is also responsible for purchasing of parts, record keeping of the Town’s fleet repairs, and maintenance of parts inventory, and inspecting and performing in-house annual safeties for fleet vehicles.
• Hours of work: 40 hours per week but must be prepared to work outside of regular working hours as necessary.
• Standby / On-Call: Job requirement
• Compensation: $37.39 per hour as per the Collective Agreement

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ontario Truck and Coach Certificate (310T) required.
• Ontario Automotive Service Technician Certificate (310S).
• Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certificate (421A) an asset.
• Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification an asset.
• Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certification an asset.
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a licensed mechanic.
• A working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety and Highway Traffic Acts.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, perform duties in urban, rural, and natural environments, and roadside maintenance under controlled conditions.
• Good organizational, interpersonal, record-keeping and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform manual labour; operate tools and heavy equipment; and operate hand-held computers, tablets, and electronic communication devices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Clear criminal record check.
