Child and Youth Worker

Location: Mamawmatawa Holistic Education Centre - Elementary
The primary role of the Child and Youth Worker is to assist the school team in the development of programs and activities for individual needs, specifically alternative programming for social skills development and self-regulation thatxis outlined in the Individual Education Plan (IEP). The Child and Youth Worker will also provide supportive counselling and group interventions to assist students and liaison between home and school.

Duration: Full-time to Mid-December 2026 upon return of Regular Employee from Maternity Leave.
Salary: Starting at $64,045.80 

Qualifications & Skills:
• Child and Youth Worker Diploma or Accredited relevant post-secondary certificate or degree
• Previous experience in working with children and youth with social and emotional needs
• Ability to provide culturally competent services
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office suite
• Experience with confidential electronic records management systems
• Experience working in a school setting is an asset
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Successful result of Criminal Record check
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for occasional home visits

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in goal setting and program planning such as Re-Entry Plans, Behavioural Plans, Self-Harm plans, Safety Plans, I.E.P.’s for students supported.
- Provide additional counselling support to at risk students in school.
- Make referrals and act as a liaison to outside agencies for appropriate student support.
- Facilitate and coordinate activities and presentations and after school programs.
- Maintain confidential file records of social support sessions and contact with students, teachers and
parents/guardians.
- Perform other duties requested.
