ABOUT THE ROLE

B&G Industrial Services Ltd. is hiring an experienced Welder-Fitter to join our steel manufacturing and industrial fabrication team in Thornloe, ON. This is a hands-on industrial role involving structural welding, fabrication, repair and maintenance of steel components and industrial equipment in a fast-paced shop environment.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

Wage: $55,000 – $80,000 per year 

Overtime: Paid in accordance with Ontario Employment Standards Act

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will be responsible to read and interpret blueprints and/or welding process specifications to fit and weld metal assemblies and join them together in a variety of scenarios while following all safety policies. You will use appropriate tools for the task (ex. igniting the torch, clamping down pieces) and joining and lining up all pieces of the project as specified.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reading blueprints and drawings and taking measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Determining the appropriate equipment and welding method based on requirements
• Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
• Setting up components for welding according to specifications
• Choose appropriate tools for the task
• Operate angle grinders and other tools to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Follow all health and safety procedures
• Identifying hazards or potential hazards
• Other job duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Metal Fabricator (Fitter) - 437A
• CWB certification or equivalent welding qualification (asset or required depending on role)
• Experience in industrial, fabrication, mill, or structural welding environment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
• Strong understanding of welding codes and safety standards
• Physically capable of performing heavy industrial work
• Valid driver’s license (asset for site travel roles)

EQUIPMENT & MACHINERY EXPEREINCE

• Angle grinder
• Mig welding
• Flux welding

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Industrial fabrication shop setting
• Exposure to noise, heat, dust and steel fabrication equipment
• Occasional overtime and emergency call-ins may be required
• PPE is mandatory at all times
