HOURS OF WORK: As per designated Landfill hours during the winter and summer schedules
Report to Deloro Landfill Site – Gatehouse
Duties
• Stop and inspect all vehicles entering scale, accessing landfill site, to ensure compliance.
• Accept or refuse waste material.
• Monitor and direct the public as well as contractors to the waste and recycling disposal areas within the Deloro Landfill.
• Enforce rules and regulations surrounding the operations of the Deloro Landfill Site.
• Operate scale software and troubleshoot when required.
• Familiarity with the Waste Management By-Law 2017-7977 and all amendments.
• Familiarity with Deloro Landfill Environmental Compliance Approval.
• Responsible for shoveling and sanding of scales and around gatehouse.
• Responsible for cleaning the gatehouse, lunchroom and washrooms.
• Receive payments for tipping fees.
• Fuel heavy equipment each shift and assist operators when required.
• Interact with the public and answer public inquiries regarding fees, hours and recycling education.
• Record and maintain site related records, documents, forms, reports
• Required to participate and support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program in order to help foster a culture of operational excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Waste Management Supervisor.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months experience as cashier.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Computer experience in data entry.
• Accounting knowledge and mathematical ability an asset.
• Knowledge of waste disposal and recycling practices.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and compile various reports.
• Demonstrated ability to abide by all safety regulations.
• Good communication skills.
• Bilingual (French and English) mandatory.
• Current and Clear Criminal Record Check with Judicial Matters Check required.
• Class G Driver’s Licence.
NOTE: Testing may be required to assess candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and suitability for the position.
