Position Overview

Work within a correctional setting to support offenders through rehabilitative programming. This role focuses on helping individuals reintegrate into the community while contributing to public safety. Ideal for candidates who enjoy facilitating programs, working with people, and collaborating with team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver rehabilitative programs to offenders
• Assess needs and enroll individuals in appropriate programs
• Support discharge planning and reintegration
• Interview offenders and respond to requests
• Coordinate program schedules and resources
• Maintain case notes, reports, and database records
• Liaise with community agencies and service providers

Note: Some evening and weekend shifts required

Qualifications

Specialized Knowledge

• Understanding of the justice system and relevant legislation
• Knowledge of rehabilitative programs and risk/needs assessments
• Experience working with community agencies (asset)

Facilitation & Interpersonal Skills

• Strong group facilitation and interviewing skills
• Ability to build rapport and work with offenders
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Analytical Skills

• Ability to assess information and make recommendations
• Evaluate offender suitability for programs

Organization & Computer Skills

• Strong time management and coordination skills
• Proficiency with databases and report preparation

Work Requirements

• Secure correctional environment
• Security screening required (e.g., Vulnerable Sector Check, police databases, credit check)
• Schedule 3.7 (OPS classification)
