LTC Education and Placement Lead
(Temporary Full-Time)
The MICs Group of Health Services – a partnership of 3 hospitals and 3 long-term care facilities – is seeking a Clinical Education and Placement Lead to oversee LTC clinical education, quality initiatives and student placements. This Lead role will be aligning with the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, Ontario regulations and fostering compliance and professional development. This role also acts as a liaison between educational institutions and the LTC home, aiming for effective student learning and recruitment.
Responsibilities include:

Identify, design and implement educational programming, including training needs assessments and evaluations

Develop and maintain a skills inventory using the Surge Learning platform

Coordinate student placements by executing orientations and pairing students with preceptors

Inform students of employment opportunities and assist in recruitment post-placement

Deliver educational interventions using best-practice and “Train-the-Trainer”

Facilitate nursing involvement, adherence to standards and address resident safety concerns

Participate in policy and procedure development and support annual staff training

Comply with Ontario OH&S Act, use personal protective equipment, promote resident safety and support IPAC education initiatives
Qualifications:
-
Regulated Health Professional, registered and in good standing with their respective college

Completion of a postgraduate degree in nursing, health, leadership or equivalent

Post-secondary degree in education or health-related field may be considered

Recent experience in an LTC setting

Demonstrated teaching, written and oral communication skills
-
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
-
Knowledge of gerontology and care for those living with dementia, mental health disorders and behavioral concerns

Knowledge of adult education principles and current/emerging teaching/learning tools
-
Understanding of long-term care requirements, Ontario health systems and LTC legislation

Mondays to Friday position, hours 9 to 5 with need to flex hours at times

Valid G License
Additional Information:

Proven experience in gerontology and broad knowledge of LTC operations, policies and legislation

Demonstrated success in working with interprofessional staff, community stakeholders and showing above-average initiative

Strong skills, high-performing with excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and problem-solving abilities

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage details, maintain good relationships and adapt to a dynamic environment
