McEwen Inc. currently has a vacancy at the Stock Complex Site in Shillington, Ontario for a Stock Electrician. Position Overview: Reporting to the Stock Mine Superintendent, the Stock Electrician is responsible for advising the technical, maintenance and operations departments on electrical matters to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation and ensure compliance with provincial and federal codes and standards. They will interact with Mine employees, supervisors, Superintendents, managers and JHSEC. They must be a committed team player with strong knowledge of and dedication to safety and production methods. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs. The list of duties and responsibilities below is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative and flexible in line with the requirements of the position. Key Responsibilities Operational / Technical Execution Overseeing the preventative and predictive maintenance for the Mine electrical infrastructure and to ensure that our Stock Mine meets operational and production needs with equipment availability site wide. Organize materials needed for equipment maintenance, new installations and projects. Report on extra materials needed to Project Development Superintendent. Build, install, maintain and troubleshoot all electrical equipment on site from 120V to 13800V. Understand power distribution all over site and how to add to the existing infrastructure. Plan and organize pump installations, maintenance, rebuilds and alignments of pumps. Advancement of dewatering pipes and pumps. Termination and splicing of fiber optic cables for automation and control systems. Installation and troubleshooting of all communication and telecommunication systems for mining operations and equipment. General Administration and Controls Carry out routine reporting and administrative duties as required. Take part in daily and monthly safety meetings as required. Maintain full responsibility for complying with all HSE and regulatory aspects relating to activities carried out in line with the requirements of this position. Maintain a safe working environment and maintain good housekeeping. Use skills, knowledge, and experience in the field to contribute towards continuous improvement. Maintain all documentation, drawings and plans for equipment, power distributions, etc. up to date as changes are made. Ensure that standard operating procedures and safe work practices are being followed. Ensure all electrical installations are in compliance with the Provincial and Federal Electrical Code’s. Communicate with maintenance and operations departments on electrical matters to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation. Prioritize and manage the workload pertaining to future and ongoing projects as well as preventative maintenance for all electrical equipment and installations at the mine site. Qualifications & Skills Required Qualifications Must be authorized to work in Canada. Valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation. Valid Ontario inter-provincial electrical trade qualification. Must have a solid understanding/knowledge of operating procedures and control strategies. Have good knowledge of the electrical code book, general lockout, high voltage distribution systems, and grounding/bonding procedures. 3-5 years of underground electrical experience. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Skills & Competencies Knowledge of how to read electrical schematics and prints is necessary. Ability to troubleshoot and test electrical equipment using electrical schematics and test equipment like multimeters and meggers. Ability to recognize and determine when and what type of Arc Flash PPE is required for maintenance, troubleshooting or installations. Ability to size cables, starters and other protective devices for electrical installations. Solid analytical capabilities coupled with good problem-solving skills. Ability to work safely, efficiently, and always maintain a safety conscious mentality within the Mining environment. Good safety knowledge and understanding with the ability to recognize, reduce or eliminate hazards and situations that may cause problems. Highly motivated to learn/train and become part of the McEwen team. Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to plan and schedule activities. Superior verbal and written communication abilities, facilitating effective dialogue with team members while ensuring duties are performed in a safe and responsible manner. Ability to interact with a wide variety of departments/roles. Ability to maintain attention to detail in a fast moving and demanding environment. The ability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative, and energetic environment is critical. Ability to lift 50 pounds Hourly Rate Range: $47.00 - $53.00 Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and skills.
