Timmins and Area Women in Crisis (TAWC) is a dynamic, community-based feminist organization, which provides services on intimate partner abuse and sexual violence to women and their children in the Timmins area. TAWC works within an integrated feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression framework. The agency administers a sexual assault centre, an emergency shelter as well as second stage housing to abused women and their children.
We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated woman to join our team in the capacity of Full-Time Manager of Community Programs. The Manager of Community Programs is responsible to the Executive Director for the overall supervision and coordination of community-based programs and services — including both administrative coordination and clinical supervision of front-line staff working in areas such as counselling, outreach, family court, and child witness programs.
The ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Women’s Studies, or related discipline) and/or equivalent experience
- Registration or eligibility for registration with a professional regulatory body (e.g., OCSWSSW, CRPO, CPO) strongly preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in counselling, trauma-informed care, or crisis intervention, preferably in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- Demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision or mentorship to staff supporting survivors of gender-based violence
- Knowledge of, familiarity with and experience working in the area of violence against women and children, preferably in a leadership capacity
- Solid understanding of the social service sector and ability to work/advocate within this system
- Understanding of and commitment to working within an intersectional feminist, anti-racism, anti-oppression framework understanding the social, economic and political context of woman abuse
- Ability to represent and promote program areas in a manner consistent with the philosophies of TAWC
- Strong analytical program evaluation, problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, coordinating, training and mentoring skills
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
- Demonstrated experience in crisis management, decision making and intervention
- Ability to promote teamwork and strength in a staff team
- Excellent organizational, time management skills
- Knowledge of administrative skills including internet and computer proficiency (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be flexible in terms of working hours
- Must undergo a criminal records check
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight for all community-based direct service programs, including counselling, outreach, family court, child witness and the volunteer program
- Provide clinical supervision to counselling and crisis support staff to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed, and consistent service delivery
- Offer clinical guidance and consultation on complex client cases, ethical considerations, and best practices in feminist counselling
- Facilitate regular individual and group clinical supervision sessions to promote reflective practice, professional growth, and client-centered care
- Develop, implement, evaluate and update program policies, procedure and protocols
- Maintain health, fire, medical and emergency procedures to ensure day-to-day safety of staff, volunteers, clients and visitors
- Train, supervise and provide support to community program staff
- Assess ongoing staff training needs and provide necessary internal and external training
- Ensure that staff are supported appropriately through the use of debriefing, supervisions, on-call support, etc…
- Promote respectful communication and teamwork among the community program staff
- Assess and evaluate community program staff on an ongoing basis
- Actively participate on committees, both internal and external to the agency
- Complete all necessary reports regularly including compiling statistical information quarterly
