Position Summary:
We are seeking a versatile and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a full-time, in-house Junior Designer/Front Desk Clerk. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, combining excellent customer service skills with a passion for print media. This role offers a great opportunity to grow within our talented team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Print Design: Design a wide range of print materials including brochures, business cards, large-format signage, packaging, and promotional mailers.
- Production Prep: Prepare and pre-flight technical files for professional printing (setting bleeds, margins, crops, and color profiles like CMYK/Pantone).
- Brand Stewardship: Maintain and apply brand guidelines accurately across various templates and new projects.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously from initial concept through to final production delivery.
- Collaboration: Work with the production team or external vendors to ensure the final printed product meets quality standards.
- Front desk operations: managing walk-ins, assisting clients, answer the phone, creating work orders
- Stock and inventory: tracking and maintaining stock
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop). Experience with RIP software is not necessary but must be learned (e.g., Fiery) and large-format UV printers (e.g., Xerox, Epson, Roland).
- Print Knowledge: Solid understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and the technical requirements of print production.
- Attention to Detail: An eagle eye for typos, alignment issues, and technical file errors, and excellent at problem-solving.
- Ability to multitask: Excellent at problem solving and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing print-based projects, layout design, and a clean aesthetic.
- Communications: Strong communication and team collaboration skills. Bilingual in French and English is not mandatory but strongly needed.
*Bonus Points: Experience with large-format printing, prepress software, or basic photography.
