Who are we?

Takwata Builders LP is a wholly owned Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) business specializing in civil earthworks projects. Established to support mines and large‑scale construction initiatives within TTN’s traditional territory, Takwata operates a substantial fleet of earthworks equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks. The company’s senior personnel bring extensive experience in tailings pond construction, bulk excavation, pond and ditch development, and a wide range of earthworks projects of varying scale and complexity.  

Job Summary/About the Role

The Dozer Operator (D6 or equivalent) is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a dozer to complete earthmoving, grading, clearing, and material handling tasks. This role includes performing daily equipment inspections, maintaining accurate logs, and ensuring all work meets safety, environmental, and company standards. The operator must read grade stakes and construction plans, adapt to changing site conditions, and work independently or as part of a crew. Strong safety awareness, attention to detail, and consistent production are essential to supporting a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

·     Safely operate and maintain various types of dozers (D6 or equivalent).

·     Perform daily housekeeping of equipment.

·     Operate in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.

·     Perform Field Level Risk Assessments prior to performing work.

·     Conduct pre-operation checks of equipment.

·     Perform a walk-around inspection before, during, and after every shift, and report any discrepancies to your supervisor.

·     Complete daily logs and daily reports on delays, production, and safety issues as applicable.

·     Identify, report, and correct hazards.

·     Punctuality.

·     Follow safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents or injuries.

·     Read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes to ensure accurate and precise work.

·     Collaborate with construction crews and other equipment operators to ensure project goals are met.

·     Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

·     Move, spread, and strip earth, rock, gravel or other materials during construction and related activities.

·     Raise, lower, and manipulate attachments using manual and hydraulic controls.

·     Operate equipment in successive passes over working area to achieve specified result, such as grade terrain or remove, dump, or spread earth and rock.

·     Earth moving and grading, material pushing and clearing.

·     Use shovel to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width, remove loosened material.

·     Operate bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals.

·     Perform routine equipment inspections, meticulously examining tires, fluids, lights, and brakes to ensure optimal functionality and safety.

·     Shovel out equipment tracks.

·     Push, excavate, and move large amounts of dirt or rock.

·     Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis.

·     Responsible for communicating any information changes to the Human Resource Coordinator (driver’s license, address, etc.).

Qualifications/Requirements:

·     Minimum five (5) years experience operating a dozer.

·     Valid driver’s license preferred.

·     Capable of carrying a 1-meter lift of 12–30-inch rock.

·     Knowledge of heavy equipment. • Able to inspect and maintain machinery.

·     Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.

·     Experience operating Komatsu equipment considered an asset.

·     Understanding of operating instructions is required.

·     Possess both a mechanical and technological aptitude.

·     Hand-eye coordination.

·     Communicate effectively.

·     Be a team player.

·     Attention to detail.

·     Ability to problem solve.

·     Ability to operate, sit or stand for long periods.

·     Ability to work independently and self-motivated.

·     Team Player able to get along with a diverse group of people working towards a common goal.

·     Able to work rotations and camp site job.

·     Able to work in extreme elements (outdoor weather conditions, vibration, noise, uneven terrain, and varying conditions).

·     Able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

·     Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and in a safe manner.

·     Ability to cope with production pressures and prioritise safety.

·     Excellent communication (English) and teamwork skills.

·     Able to ascend and descend equipment throughout the shift.

·     Able and comfortable with repetitive tasks.

·     Willing to learn and take direction. • Able to follow safety protocols.

·     Must be in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
