Position Summary
Reporting to the Public Works Manager, the Fleet Supervisor/Planner is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Fleet Department. They are responsible for the planning and coordinating the service and repairs to the Corporate fleet which includes vehicles and equipment from Public Works & Environmental Services, Fire, Clerk & Community Services, and the Growth and Infrastructure Departments.
Duties
- Oversee the daily operation of the Public Works Fleet department as well as the Public Works stock and inventory control department, making health and safety a priority
- Supervise and provide guidance, corrective action and performance evaluations to the mechanical team, including mechanics, welders, equipment service personnel, stock and inventory control personnel
- Plan, schedule and manage the Corporate fleet preventative maintenance program, safety inspections, clean air testing and equipment overhaul programs, as well as provide all required information to maintain the City’s CVOR
- Use the electronic work order system (Maintstar) to create, track and close all work, and track statistics, mileage, hours and other key performance indicators (KPI)
- Assist in the preparation of all capital expenditures relating to the Corporate fleet
- Responsible for ensuring full utilization, availability and regular maintenance of all of the Corporate fleet
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and management of the approved budget relating to all Public Works vehicles
- Ability to efficiently address equipment needs as requested by various departments (i.e. Public Works, Public Utilities)
- Responsible for scheduling maintenance activity for winter and spring night shift operation and for after-hours emergency repairs, including outsourcing of repairs when required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Two (2) year College diploma in either Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, or a current Automotive Service Technician with a 310T Licence. A combination of relevant education and experience may also be acceptable to the Employer
- MMP designation would be considered an asset
- A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in mechanical equipment maintenance
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer Literacy utilizing Microsoft Office (word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) as well as preventative maintenance software
- Strong planning and leadership skills
- Valid driver’s licence; Class G or higher
- Current and clear Criminal Record Check with Judicial Matters Check
