Job Description

We are currently looking to hire several long-term work-from-home transcription typists. This role is a contractor position and is paid per page.

This job involves both standard transcription work as well as performing quality assurance audio reviews of completed transcripts. Note: this position is a freelance work from home position.

Responsibilities

• Typing verbatim transcripts of pre-recorded audio and video legal proceedings.

• Learning and following client house rules (i.e. client-specific preferences in formatting, spelling, capitalization, and editing conventions)

• Holding all third-party (client) information in the strictest confidentiality

• Reviewing completed work to identify potential areas of self-improvement

Compensation

• The pay scale for the WFH typing work will be as follows:

CAD Rates for Audit Ready Typists:

• 1 Day TAT: 25-Line $1.60 | 41-Line $2.00 | 47-Line $2.30

• 2 Day TAT: 25-Line $1.40 | 41-Line $1.80 | 47-Line $2.10

• 3 Day TAT: 25-Line $1.30 | 41-Line $1.70 | 47-Line $1.95

• 5 Day TAT: 25-Line $1.20 | 41-Line $1.60 | 47-Line $1.85

CAD Rate for Non-Audit Ready Typists (Training):

• 25-Line $1.00 | 41-Line $1.30 | 47-Line $1.55

USD Rates for Audit Ready Typists:

• 1 Day TAT: 25-Line $1.20 | 41-Line $1.45 | 47-Line $1.70

• 2 Day TAT: 25-Line $1.05 | 41-Line $1.30 | 47-Line $1.50

• 3 Day TAT: 25-Line $0.95 | 41-Line $1.20 | 47-Line $1.40

• 5 Day TAT: 25-Line $0.90 | 41-Line $1.15 | 47-Line $1.35

USD Rate for Non-Audit Ready (Training):

• 25-Line $0.75 | 41-Line $0.95 | 47-Line $1.15

• In the WFH role, you will be expected to process at least 200 minutes of audio per week.

• The minimum amount of minutes to request is 200 minutes

Qualifications

• Strong English grammar and comprehension

• Ability to understand global accents

• Minimum 80 Words per Minute typing speed

• Computer literacy with strong MS Word skills

• Ability to understand at least one or more of the following accents in the English language is required:

1. West African (including Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Mali)

2. East African (including Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia)

3. South Asian accents (including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan)

4. East Asian accents (including China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia)

5. Middle Eastern accents (including Iran, Iraq, Turkey)

6. Eastern Bloc European accents (including Russia, Romania, Georgia)

7. Latin American accents (including Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Venezuela)

8. French accents (including Quebec, France, Congo, Cameroon)

• Strong command of a second language beyond English is preferred

• Previous transcription experience is not a requirement, we will train successful candidates.

• At least 18 years of age due to violent and graphic content.

• Current RCMP criminal background check Level 1 upon hiring
