Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board (DSB) is looking for a self-motivated & energetic individual to join our industry-leading organization which works towards the delivery of high-quality services and programs to the residents of Manitoulin-Sudbury districts. Created by the provincial government, the DSB is responsible for overseeing and managing a range of services divested to the municipal order of government, including Ontario Works, Community Housing, Paramedic Services (Land Ambulance), Non-Urgent Patient Transportation, and Early Learning and Child Care Services.

Our Team 

he Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board is comprised of 14 board members and has been in existence for 25 years. With three main departments, Integrated Human Services, Paramedic Services, and Administration, and over 200 employees, we service a large geographical area totaling 45,000 square km. Our organization is responsible for the development and execution of annual budgets exceeding $50 million.  We are proud to serve our communities, and we remain committed to our mission of delivering effective, fair, and safe services to our residents. 

The Opportunity 

We are currently looking for a driven individual to join our team as a Full-Time Employment Consultant/Job Developer within our Integrated Human Services Department. The Employment Consultant/Job Developer provides employment counselling, job development, and case management services to help clients overcome barriers, achieve career goals, and connect with employers. 

Location: Chapleau  

In this position you will:

  • Conduct intake assessments to determine eligibility and develop individualized employment action plans.
  • Provide career guidance, job search assistance, and referrals to community and Employment Ontario services.
  • Research, design, and deliver employment and skills workshops.
  • Monitor client progress and support problem-solving during employment and training activities.
  • Recruit and collaborate with employers to create job and training opportunities aligned with client skills and interests.
  • Develop and manage employer training plans and financial incentives following Employment Ontario guidelines.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, employers, and job coaches to ensure workplace success.
  • Promote Employment Ontario programs through marketing materials and community networking.
  • Record client data and outcomes in EOIS-CAMS; ensure accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Maintain organized client files and prepare correspondence, reports, and documentation.
  • Support integrated service areas (Ontario Works, Child Care, Social Housing) as needed.

Qualifications and Specific Skills 

Education:

  • Post-secondary education from an accredited Canadian University or College in Human Services or similar. 

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years or more in a federal, provincial, or municipal Human Services or Employment Service Field is required. 

A valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License with insured vehicle for employment related use is required. 

Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of a variety of community programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of the local labour market and community organizations providing educational, training and employment opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify skill/experience barriers of participants.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in dealing with co-workers, the public, employers and community agencies.
  • Demonstrate marketing and negotiation skills.
  • High level of ability to use computers and other information technology specific to case management and administration.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Salary: $35.78/hr (35 hours per week)
