Full Job Description

• Receives instructions (verbal/written), drawing prints, wiring schematics, sketches or work orders covering scheduled or emergency repair installation or inspection work to be done.
• Interprets drawings, schematics, manuals and sketches to locate, troubleshoot and/or install circuits and equipment. Makes field sketches of modifications made and communicates information to department supervisor.
• Plans detail of working procedure and selects tools and materials in accordance with job requirements.
• Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials and the theory of operation and application of the process equipment.
• Consider safety precautions and proper isolation of process equipment as to minimize interference with the operation.
• Inspects electrical and electronic equipment, checking PLC ladder logic, modifying logic rungs, lubrication and communicating undesired performance indicators such as excessive vibration, overheating and obvious signs of wear or the need for adjustment or calibration.
• Considers all safety precautions and proper isolation of equipment to cause minimal process interference. Makes use of all applicable safety devices. Understands how to achieve zero energy state for equipment to be worked-on.
• Inspects and diagnoses mechanical defects on plant machinery and equipment. Test equipment. Work in compliance with and records and attests to equipment condition as required by any government regulations, trade code and/or company policy.
• Assembles, connects, shunts coil configuration and aligns electrically driven motors.
• Performing tasks requiring the ability to climb and work in high places and perform some potentially heavy work when performing maintenance, installation or calibration of electric process components.
• Potential rigging on heavy or unbalanced loads utilizing booms, hoists, chain blocks, scaffolds, ladders, rollers, etc.
• Performs electrical work on natural gas operated ovens and heaters.
• Works at height and/or on elevated platforms and/or in confined spaces.
• Works in close proximity of dangerous substances such as molten metal.
• Works with equipment capable of generating severe electrical flash hazards.
• Works in extreme environments (heat or cold) and/or in dusty I dirty environments.
