Reporting to the Dean, Mining, Trades, Technology and Apprenticeship, the Electrical Technician will provide senior technical support in matters of a complex nature requiring a high degree of independent judgement, technical specialization and experience.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide specialized technical support for electrical laboratories, training equipment, tools, devices, trainers, and facilities;
  • Ensure training environments are fully operational and prepared for instructional delivery;
  • Recommend, source, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment used in skilled trades programs;
  • Assist with the design, modification, installation, and maintenance of electrical training systems and laboratory equipment;
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on shop, laboratory, and training equipment to minimize downtime;
  • Monitor equipment condition and maintain accurate maintenance records;
  • Coordinate equipment inspections, testing, calibration, and certification requirements;
  • Ensure laboratories and shops operate in compliance with applicable health and safety legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures; and
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify and address safety concerns.

What you will need to be considered:

  • Three (3) year Community College diploma, or a three (3) year undergraduate University degree in Electrical, or a related/relevant field;
  • Minimum seven (7) years of practical experience in a related trade; and
  • 309A license is considered an asset.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as a team, have clear verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills and time-management skill.
