We are looking to hire an enthusiastic person ready to work in a Long-Term Care Environment.
Position: Permanent Part-time unionized position
Salary range: $25.78 - $26.45 per hour
Requirements: Culinary
experience in institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality
- Food Service Worker
Certificate, an asset
- Ability to work as a
team
- Ability to communicate
in both English and French, an asset
Other Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience preferred in long term care settings
Ability to follow instructions to meet the dietary needs of the residents
Ability to handle multiple priorities
Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
Ability to work well with others in a team approach and adapt to changing situations
Current WHMIS certification is an asset
Excellent knowledge of HACCP program
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English and French, both verbally and writing
Note: Must be able to manage time, multi-task, problem solve and prioritize service around the various needs of the residents.

Attend all training as scheduled.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
Function in a manner consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values & Ethics of the Manor
Demonstrate respect, courtesy, a positive attitude, responsibility and accountability in all aspects of work.
Adhere to established general and departmental policies and procedures.
Identify and report problems and recommend changes to improve quality of service.
Protect own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health & safety. Follow all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Health & Safety Act.
Act as an ambassador on issues related to the Home outside of the Home.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
2. Observes time limits for meals serving
3. Has knowledge of menu items and can provide general description to the residents
4. Responds to the dining needs of the residents while maintaining fine dining and service standards
5. Portions meals considering portion control and plate appearance.
6. Dispense and serve food in a manner that avoids waste.
7. Report to the Manager any resident concern pertaining to food preparations or service.
8. Maintains accurate records of resident's dietary need
9. Maintains food at proper serving temperature and keep accurate documentations
10. Follows all policies regarding food handling
11. Prepares snacks cart and nourishments for resident as directed
12. Clears plates and trays, loads and operates dishwasher. Cleans pots, pans and dishes as per procedure.
13. Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary food including leftovers.
14. Obtains food and supplies for meal service as directed. Replenish stock in servery according to the needs of the wing assigned.
15. Carry on all other related duties as assigned
