SUMMARY:
Fort Albany First Nation Band Representatives and the Prevention/Intervention Department ensure that the best interests of the children who are involved and/or at risk of becoming involved within Child Welfare. The Data Cl is to provide data entry, audit the database system, and assist in extracting statistical information for reporting to the Band Representative, Prevention Program, Post-Majority Care, and the Jordan Principle. Ensuring alignment with program policies and procedures.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Data Analyst works with the program’s database system and program data collected manually to:
· Help the agency meet its accountability requirements.
· Identify emerging service needs and trends.
· Monitor the Client Database System data entry requirements of the following programs:
o Band Representatives
o Prevention Programs
o Post Majority Care
o Jordan’s Principle
· Audit the data’s integrity to identify system malfunctions.
· Provides training on the use of the program database system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Data Analyst shall:
· Complete the forms and reports required for their function associated with the client database system
· Complete all external survey requests received from Indigenous Service Canada and other agencies
· Prepare the quarterly and annual statistical reports
· Manages and maintains the Client database system as per the direction of the immediate supervisor
· Oversee staff access to restricted files to monitor and enter data
· Reviews data entry codes to maintain appropriate and effective collation of data
· Provides orientation and training to new staff on the system’s data entry requirements
· Archiving old client files to the database system for the privacy and security of sensitive client information
· Produces monthly edit lists and reviews with the immediate supervisor to maintain the integrity of data
· Prepares and distributes statistical packages for Management, First Nation, and Indigenous Service Canada
· Refers problems to the appropriate Quality Assurance Manager regarding accuracy of data entry and conformity to system requirements, and advises the immediate supervisor of non-compliance
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Data Analyst must possess most or all of the following qualifications:
· Post-secondary education in the field of computers or Administration is preferred
· Effective ability to analyze program data and the judgment to support the development of operational findings and recommendations
· Effective communication skills
· Ability to identify emerging problems with the agency’s data systems
· Working knowledge of Client Database systems, Excel, and Word software
· Ability to author reports reflecting analysis and recommendations
· Knowledge of service delivery practices, regulations and standards related to the Band Representative, Prevention Program, Post Majority Care and Jordan’s Principle
· The completion of a community college certificate or diploma in a related field of study and
· A working knowledge of First Nation culture and traditions, and the ability to speak the Cree language
