Position Summary
The Communications, Events & Fundraising Coordinator plays a key role in increasing awareness of the Seizure & Brain Injury Centre’s mission, programs, and impact within the community. This position is responsible for developing and delivering communications strategies, coordinating community events and initiatives, supporting fundraising activities, and building meaningful relationships with community members, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and partners.
The successful candidate will be a creative, organized, and community-minded individual who can tell the story of the Centre’s work, strengthen public awareness, and help grow engagement and support for individuals and families affected by seizures and brain injuries.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Community Awareness
- Develop and implement communications plans that increase awareness of the Centre’s programs, services, and community impact.
- Manage and create engaging content for social media platforms, newsletters, website updates, and other communication channels.
- Develop stories, testimonials, and impact-focused content that highlights the experiences of clients, families, volunteers, and supporters while respecting privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintain consistent branding and messaging across all communications.
- Support public education and awareness campaigns related to seizures, brain injuries, and community inclusion.
- Monitor social media engagement and identify opportunities to increase community reach.
- Represent the Centre at community events, meetings, and awareness initiatives.
Events & Community Initiatives
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and outreach activities.
- Manage event logistics including timelines, promotion, volunteers, sponsorship recognition, supplies, and follow-up.
- Build relationships with community organizations, businesses, service providers, and partners to increase collaboration and visibility.
- Identify opportunities for new community initiatives that support the Centre’s mission.
- Coordinate volunteer involvement for events and community activities.
- Evaluate events and initiatives to measure success and identify improvements.
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
- Support the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
- Build relationships with donors, sponsors, businesses, and community supporters.
- Assist with sponsorship packages, donor communications, recognition activities, and stewardship.
- Research and support grant and funding opportunities as required.
- Maintain accurate records related to fundraising activities, donors, sponsors, and community contacts.
- Assist with fundraising reporting and tracking outcomes.
Administrative & Team Support
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Director, staff, and volunteers.
- Attend community meetings and networking opportunities as a representative of the Centre.
- Support annual campaigns, awareness months, and special projects.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sensitivity when working with individuals and families impacted by seizures and brain injuries.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, public relations, fundraising, non-profit management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience developing social media content and managing online communications.
- Experience planning and coordinating events.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent relationship-building and networking abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Creative thinker with the ability to develop engaging campaigns and community initiatives.
- Experience in fundraising, sponsorship development, or donor relations is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with social media platforms, Microsoft Office, Canva, website content management systems, and digital communication tools.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
- Understanding of non-profit organizations and community-based services is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation is required.

Compensation
Salary range: $42,000–$49,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
