The City of Temiskaming Shores is a picturesque community, located in Northeastern Ontario, near the Quebec border, adjacent to its beloved landmark, Lake Temiskaming. With a growing population of approximately 9,630, Temiskaming Shores is known for being one of the most beautiful and attractive communities in Northern Ontario. The beauty of Lake Temiskaming, the clean air, our natural features, and numerous other recreational amenities make this a unique place to both live, work and visit.
We are currently seeking a full-time, seasonal, All-Age Friendly Programmer to work from May to August 2026 within the City’s Recreation Department. The successful applicant will be an independent, energetic individual, eager to implement inclusive, high-quality programming for older adults within the community. The City offers a competitive salary of $20.00 per hour, up to 35 hours of work per week throughout the contract term.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Community Programs, and working in collaboration with the Age Friendly Coordinator, this position is responsible for helping to expand and diversify recreational and social opportunities that address the needs of older adults, while also creating all-age friendly initiatives that foster community wide engagement. Furthermore, this position will support the departments broader objectives of accessibility, community inclusion, and the promotion of active, healthy living for all residents.
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
- Enrolled in a post-secondary program in recreation/leisure services, or related discipline, or equivalent.
- Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating recreation programs will be considered an asset.
- Valid Province of Ontario Class G license
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated proficient computer skills particularly with Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
