Position Summary
We are currently seeking a structured and dynamic Accounting Clerk to join our corporate
office. This position is responsible for providing day-to-day financial and clerical support to
the accounting department. This includes processing accounts payable and receivable,
reconciling statements, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with various accounting
tasks.
Key Responsibilities
The Accounting Clerk will assist with a wide range of administrative tasks, including:
- Assisting with general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, document preparation, and routine correspondence.
- Process accounts payable, including invoice matching, data entry, and preparing payment batches.
- Manage accounts receivable, issue invoices, track payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and maintain updated financial records.
- Support the preparation and accuracy of documentation for internal and external audits.
- Assist with payroll-related entries, time-sheet verification, and expense claims when required.
- Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal departments to resolve billing or payment inquiries.
- Upholding confidentiality and demonstrating professionalism at all times.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who brings strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and
a commitment to supporting a busy office environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Completion of a college certificate or diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Prior experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or accounts payable/receivable role.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) is an asset.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- High degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with vendors and internal departments.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and a willingness to learn new tasks or systems as needed.
Work Conditions
The position is based at the O’Briens Corporate Group head office in Kapuskasing. Hours are
from Monday to Friday during daytime business hours, with occasional flexibility depending on operational needs across our companies. The work environment is supportive, fast-paced, and team-oriented, with opportunities for growth as the organization continues expanding.
