Position Summary
Emcon Services Inc. is seeking a licensed 310T Truck & Coach Mechanic to join our maintenance team supporting the City of Timmins winter maintenance contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of heavy trucks, plows, spreaders, and other winter maintenance equipment to ensure fleet readiness throughout the winter season.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on winter equipment including plow trucks, sanders/spreaders, wing plows, underbody scrapers, and hydraulic systems
- Complete DVIR-triggered and scheduled work orders in a timely manner to minimize equipment downtime during winter events
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy trucks and attachments
- Conduct CVOR-compliant safety inspections and ensure all repairs meet applicable regulatory and manufacturer standards
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and inspection results in the fleet management system
- Respond to emergency breakdowns during winter storm events, including on-call/after-hours availability as required
- Ensure equipment calibration (spreaders, ground speed controls) meets material application standards
- Communicate equipment issues affecting service levels to the Supervisor of Operations
- Adhere to all OHSA, COR, and Emcon safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
Qualifications
- Valid 310T (Truck & Coach Technician) license required
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience maintaining heavy trucks and/or winter maintenance equipment (plows, spreaders, hydraulics) preferred
- Working knowledge of CVOR/NSC Standard inspection requirements an asset
- Experience with hydraulic and electrical diagnostic troubleshooting
- Valid Ontario driver's license (DZ/AZ an asset)
- Ability to work variable shifts, including on-call during winter storm events
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently under time pressure
- Own tools required
Compensation & Benefits
- Wage: $45.00–$50.00 per hour, based on experience

- Physical demands include lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces under vehicles/equipment
