POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Program Manager of the Six Season Youth Program, the Cultural Coordinator will work with urban centers to assist in the effective and safe delivery of program activities related to Omushkego culture, such as smudging, ceremonies, and the facilitation of Natural Laws. The incumbent must be able to network effectively and provide educational workshops to youth participants, staff, and the community regarding proper protocols related to cultural activities. The Cultural Coordinator will assist and support the Indigenous youth in retaining and revitalizing their culture through activities, teachings, and connection to the land.
REQUIREMENTS
• Grade 12 Diploma
• Strong multi-tasking and communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency and office skills
• Excellent report writing skills
• Strong organization skills with proven ability to plan activities and events
• Effective time management skills working within a fast-paced setting
• Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history
• Working flexible hours such as evenings or weekends
• Ability to work independently and as a team with minimal supervision
• Knowledge of the Cree language is an asset
• Valid Ontario Class “G” License and ability to travel as required
• CPIC with Vulnerable check
• Proof of covid-19 vaccination
