POSITION SUMMARY

The Workforce Development Officer is responsible for assisting in planning, coordination, and implementation of workforce development initiatives, in service to and with First Nation communities, to support education, employment, training, and career advancement within the Mushkegowuk region. This role works closely and in harmony with First Nation leaders, and administrators, schools, employers, training institutions, community partners, job seekers and youth to identify current and future workforce needs and align them with education, skills development, training and mentor/coaching opportunities.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, Education, Social Services, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of three years experience in workforce development, employment services, or training coordination.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships and collaborative partnerships.
  • Strong knowledge of local labour markets, career pathways, and training systems.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities, including Indigenous and Non-Indigenous organizations and stakeholders.
  • Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence
  • Monthly travel is mandatory, by air, boat, vehicle, snowmachine as determined by season, weather, and location.
