POSITION SUMMARY
Under the leadership of the Food Security Manager, the Community Food Coordinators will lead or assist community-based initiatives to advance food security relevant to the unique assets and interests of their respective community. The Community Food Coordinators will provide strategic and technical assistance and findings in areas of policy and programme planning in food security and harvesting. Community Food Coordinators will provide information about funding, grants and other opportunities at the community level and report to regional office as to the changing needs and priorities around food access and harvesting in their respective communities.
REQUIREMENTS
· Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to communicate in the Cree Language would be considered an asset
· Ability to work independently and as a team
· Strong collaboration and group facilitation skills
· Knowledge of community assets and current food programming initiatives
· Knowledge of harvesting practices and programs that support harvesters and trappers
· Knowledge of current issues around food insecurity within the community
· Possess excellent organizational and time management skills
· Recognized experience and proven and demonstrated skills in leadership, management and administration an asset
· Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence an asset
· Current Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sector Screening required
