Summary
The Scale Clerk ensures the integrity of materials tracking and ticketing - a foundational part of accurate billing, inventory, and daily site operations. This role supports project efficiency, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance across Miller’s construction and aggregate operations.
Responsibilities
- Accurately operate weigh scale systems to record inbound and outbound truck weights
- Generate and issue scale tickets, ensuring all load data (material type, quantity, truck ID, job site, etc.) is properly entered
- Verify load and delivery information for customers, haulers, and internal drivers
- Communicate clearly with drivers and site personnel to coordinate traffic flow and resolve ticketing issues.
- Assist with the daily organization of scale house operations, maintaining clean and efficient workspaces
- Perform basic administrative duties including filing, document scanning, and data entry into internal systems
- Support coordination between dispatch, loader operators, and operations teams as needed
- Maintain accurate records for billing, inventory, and compliance purposes
- Adhere to safety procedures and ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to site operations
- Report any scale discrepancies or operational issues to the supervisor promptly
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, logistics, or a related field is an asset
- 1–2 years of experience in an administrative, customer service, or scale house role preferred; experience with scale management software is an asset
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform repetitive data entry accurately
- Effective organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Clear, professional verbal communication with drivers and internal team members
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and similar tools)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain focus under pressure
Compensation Data
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
