Service Manager (Timmins) CJ Equipment Sales and Service
Position Summary
The Service Manager is responsible for the day-to-day service operations of CJ Equipment and Joel Vachon, including the CJ Equipment shop, Joel Vachon shop, and the maintenance and repair coordination of the Joel Vachon fleet. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring a regular presence in both shops and strong coordination between technicians, Service Advisors and management.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Shop and Technician Management
· Oversee the daily operation and workflow of the CJ Equipment and Joel Vachon shops.
· Schedule technicians across both shops based on workload, priorities, technician skill level and operational requirements.
· Maintain a regular shop-floor presence to monitor job progress, workmanship, productivity and technician needs.
· Identify jobs that are falling behind and act early to resolve delays and roadblocks.
· Ensure adequate technician on-call coverage is scheduled and clearly communicated.
Joel Vachon Fleet & Repairs
· Coordinate maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair requirements for the Joel Vachon fleet.
· Prioritize repairs based on operational requirements and equipment availability.
· Monitor fleet downtime, recurring mechanical issues and units due for maintenance.
· Work with operations to minimize unnecessary downtime and ensure completed fleet repairs meet quality expectations.
Service Advisor Leadership, SERTI and Billing
· Oversee, coach and support the Service Advisors.
· Ensure Service Advisors communicate with customers in a timely, professional and proactive manner, including repair findings, approvals, delays and completion expectations.

Ensure work orders are opened,
maintained, documented, reviewed, invoiced and closed in a timely manner.
· Promote proper and consistent use of SERTI and improve the completeness and timeliness of service data.
· Ensure technician time, repair notes, parts, outside purchases and customer authorizations are properly captured.
· Review open and aging work orders and prevent completed work from sitting unbilled.
Quality Control:
· Oversee quality control of repairs completed in both shops.
· Ensure appropriate inspections, road tests or operational tests are completed before equipment is released.
· Investigate comebacks and repeat repairs and work with technicians to correct root causes.
· Promote a culture of completing repairs correctly the first time.
Tooling, Computers, and Diagnostic Softwear

Manage shop tooling, specialty tools, diagnostic equipment, computers and related technology.

Ensure diagnostic software, subscriptions, licences, laptops and communication adapters are current and operational.
·
Identify tooling and technology investments that improve technician efficiency and shop capability.
·
Maintain accountability for company-owned tooling and diagnostic equipment.
Key Performance Areas:
· Technician productivity, efficiency and effective scheduling.
· Job turnaround times and shop utilization.
· Quality of repairs, QC compliance and reduction of comebacks.
· Customer communication and satisfaction.
· Timely and accurate invoicing; open and aging work orders.
· SERTI data quality and work-order completeness.
· Joel Vachon fleet availability, downtime and preventative maintenance compliance.
· On-call coverage and availability of tooling and diagnostic technology.
Red Seal 310 T Truck and Coach Mechanic, 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, 310S Automotive Service Technician is a bonus to this position.
