Program Manager (Contract Training Opportunity)

 

 

 

Responsibilities

The Program Manager, under the direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for the coordination, management and continuity of the Timmins Native Friendship Centre’s programs and services which contribute to healing intergenerational traumas, particularly those caused by Indian Residential Schools. The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring the Timmins Native Friendship Centre programs are provided at the most effective level of service in accordance with the Terms of Agreements of each program and established policies within the Timmins Native Friendship Centre.

 

Qualifications

·       Possess post-secondary education in Indigenous studies, management, social service work and/or a combination of equivalent experience and relevant education;

  • The candidate will have a minimum of two (4) years of demonstrated and related work experience within a non-profit, mental health and/or social service setting;

·       Proven experience in reporting, statistical and financial reports;

·       Proven experience in program management, coordination and evaluation;

·       Demonstrated ability to effectively problem-solve and exercise sound judgment pertaining to supervision issues;

·       Excellent communication and supervisory skills;

  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on the impacts of trauma, family violence, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach;

·       Willingness to work flexible hours;

·       Ability to speak Cree and/or Ojibway an asset;

·       Knowledge of the Friendship Centre movement, its aims and objectives;

·       First Aid/CPR, Food Handler’s Certificate, and WHMIS;

·       Ability to provide a clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Persons Check; and,

·       Must be licensed to drive a motor vehicle, insured to do so in the Province of Ontario and have access to a safe and reliable vehicle.

·       TNFC has a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy that requires covered individuals to take part in COVID-19 vaccination programs recommended by Public Health; unless they are approved from TNFC. Compliance with this policy is mandatory for this position.
