Northern Policy Institute (NPI) is seeking a full-time Lead Policy Analyst for a 2-year contract (with a possibility of renewal) in Sudbury, Ontario.
The Lead Policy Analyst heads NPI’s Building Human Capacity Team. Reconciliation, anti-racism, welcoming communities, population growth, retention, and attraction are all policy research areas for this team. They also explore better local and regional governance and community collaboration and cooperation models.
That team includes a junior analyst, a program officer, and up to three project-specific research interns at any given time, as well as summer placements and co-op students. Master’s level social scientists with a bent for quantitative and qualitative analysis and public policy debate should apply, as should bachelor’s level applicants with at least three years of applied experience.
Solid analytical and writing skills are a must. In addition to descriptive statistics, the analyst will be expected to assess and explore potential policy implications and apply comparative evidence to support proposed policy changes, solutions, or directions. A special knowledge of Northern Ontario would also be an asset.

NPI values the ability to engage with communities in multiple languages. An increment of $1,500 over and above the base salary is available for those who can fluently speak Anishinabemowin, Oji-Cree, Cree, Michif or French, as well as English in a professional setting.
