Land- Based Worker
Full Time – One Year (12 Month) Contract- With possibility of extension
(Beaverhouse Band Members and Indigenous Persons will be given priority)
Following the Mission Statement of the Beaverhouse First Nation Band Office we are seeking a
dedicated and culturally grounded Land-Based Worker to support community wellness through
meaningful, land-based programming. This role plays a vital part in strengthening identity, resilience,
and connection to culture, language, and traditional teachings for individuals, families, and youth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize, and facilitate land-based activities such as hunting, fishing, trapping, harvesting,
medicine gathering, and land-based camps
• Assist in integrating traditional teachings, language, and cultural practices into programming
• Coordinate seasonal programming aligned with traditional cycles and community needs
• Collaborate closely with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
• Support individuals, families, youth, and Elders in a culturally safe and inclusive environment
• Arrange logistics including transportation, supplies, equipment, and meals
• Conduct safety planning, including risk assessments and emergency preparedness
• Promote programs through community outreach and engagement
• Maintain accurate program records and reporting (including ARMS, if applicable)
• Work collaboratively with internal staff and departments to support integrated service delivery
• Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 1–2 years experience in land-based programming, outdoor work, or cultural activities
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and land-based practises
• Experience working with First Nation communities
• Highly motivated, reliable, and committed.
• Effective oral and written communication skills
Assets:
• Experience with facilitation or coordination of group activities
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, TEAMS, and other related office programs.
• Outdoor and land-based skills (navigation, safety, survival)
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
• Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Valid First Aid/CPR
Salary: $40,000 - $45,500 annually
