About the Role:
B&G Industrial Services Ltd. is hiring an experienced Industrial Draftsperson to join our steel manufacturing and industrial fabrication team in Thornloe, ON.
This is a hands-on technical and office-based role involving the creation, modification, and interpretation of detailed engineering and fabrication drawings to support structural steel fabrication, equipment repair, and industrial projects in a fast-paced shop environment.
This role combines technical expertise in drafting, design, and estimating with operational office support, including health & safety coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Steel Fabrication / Design
- Prepare accurate quotes and cost estimates for steel fabrication projects
- Draft and design steel components, assemblies, and structural elements using industry-standard software
- Assess designs and determine the most efficient fabrication methods to ensure accuracy and proper fit-up
- Work with project managers and shop staff to resolve technical challenges and recommend practical solutions
Operations & Health & Safety Support
- Support the operations team with administrative tasks, scheduling, and coordination
- Assist with health & safety risk assessments, documentation, and compliance initiatives
- Provide cross-functional support to ensure smooth operations in a busy office setting
Requirements:
- Diploma or certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in industrial, fabrication, mill, or structural welding environment
- Experience in welding or strong understanding of welding processes (required)
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor (for equivalent design software)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes and structural steel components
- Experience supporting or coordinating projects in an industrial environment (asset)
- Familiarity with health & safety documentation of compliance processes (asset)
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license (asset for site visits)
Work Environment:
- Industrial fabrication shop setting
- Exposure to noise, heat, dust and steel fabrication equipment
- Occasional overtime and emergency call-ins may be required
- PPE is mandatory at all times

Compensation & Benefits:
Wage: $57,000 - $74,000 per year
Overtime: Paid in accordance with Ontario Employment Standards Act
