Support Services team members play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors across the MICs Group of Health Services. Reporting to the Support Services Supervisor or Program Leader, these positions support essential non-clinical operations within hospital and long-term care settings.
Housekeeping Aides are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, washrooms, common areas, and clinical spaces in accordance with infection prevention standards and environmental cleaning protocols. Duties include waste handling, floor care, room turnover, and the safe use of housekeeping equipment and approved cleaning products.
Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality setting is considered an asset
- Ministry of Labour Worker Health & Safety Awareness Training Certificate
- Ability to work a flexible schedule within a 7-day/week operation
- Good attendance record and adherence to confidentiality requirements
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
- A clear criminal record check will be required by the successful candidate as a condition of employment
- WHMIS certification and knowledge of infection control principles
Compensation
- Rate of pay: $25.63 / hour as per the SEIU collective agreement
- Paid benefits and vacation as per the SEIU collective agreement
- Eligibility to enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
