Designated Early Childhood Educator - Temporary                                              

Location:             New Liskeard Public School

Start date:           February 20, 2026 (temporary position until April 2, 2026 or return of absent employee)

QUALIFICATIONS:  

• ​Registered in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
• Demonstrated fluency in French - required

RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                                                

The DECE will:

• Collaborate with the classroom teacher and principal to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that reflect the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program
• Co-facilitate play-based activities that allow students to demonstrate learning related to the four frames of the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program
• Effectively and efficiently observe and document student learning using a variety of tools and techniques to assist the educator in the assessment of the development of students
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher to promote and maintain a healthy physical, emotional and social learning environment
• Assume other duties/responsibilities specifically related to the functions of children and the effective delivery of the Early Learning Curriculum as determined by the Principal and the Superintendent of Education

ASSETS:

• Thorough understanding of the Ministry of Education’s Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program
• Thorough understanding of the developmental continuum for this age group
• Demonstrated appropriate behaviour management techniques with individuals, small and large groups
• Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills in working with students, teachers, principals, and families
• Demonstrated professional communication skills
• Demonstrated initiative, positive thinking, critical thinking, and sound decision-making skills

​Compensation:

Salary in accordance with the current OSSTF-DECE collective agreement Collective Agreements (dsb1.ca)  - $25.03 per hour - $33.80 per hour
