SUMMARY
Cadence Senior Retirement Living Residence is seeking a dynamic individual to work as a Cadence Residence Intern and provide PSW duties and help with coordination of activities and events.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality care and support to seniors at Cadence Residence, while also contributing to the planning and facilitation of resident activities and events. This role requires a caring individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to enhancing the well-being of our residents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION
- Assist seniors with activities of daily living (dressing, supervision with showering, mobility)
- Provide support to seniors with dementia to work one on one on wellness programs
- Offer support to seniors to help maintain independence, assisting with errands, support OTN appointments
- Assist with activities and events at Cadence
- Liaise with family or seniors to communicate needs of seniors

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 diploma
- PSW Certificate
- First Aid / CPR Certification
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to work well with seniors in a respectful and compassionate manner
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to work flexible hours
- Team-oriented with the ability to take direction effectively
- Willingness and capability to assist in coordinating activities and events
CANDIDATE CRITERIA
- Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
- Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 mandate.
- Candidate must be 18 years of age
- Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Once hired, the candidate must reside in Northern Ontario community in which they are employed
